ProvenRun’s CyberSafeOS Selected for France 2030 to Secure Cyber-Physical Systems


Paris, France, February 16, 2022 – As part of the plan to support the development of innovative and critical cyber technologies, central to the French cyber strategy and funded by France 2030, the CyberSafeOS project of ProvenRun has been selected.

Digital transformation is changing the way we think about the use of new technologies. Innovative devices are integrating technologies that allow them to interact with their environment and exchange information. Most industrial sectors are in the process of engaging in this transformation. This is the case, for example, with autonomous vehicles and transportation, connected aircraft, and smart electrical networks. These major technological developments share a common challenge: the mastery of connected and intelligent systems called Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS).

The development of CPSs is therefore a matter of strategic importance for the economic competitiveness of a country. One of the main technological challenges resulting from the expected functionalities of CPS is to satisfy both the traditional needs of functional safety and the requirements of cyber security. Certification kit(s) will be developed in collaboration with Internet of Trust, a company specialized in certification, to ease the integration of CyberSafeOS into a solution that must meet security and/or operational safety standards.

The purpose of CyberSafeOS is:

  • To meet the security needs of CPS, in particular to be able to deal with the emergence of new attacks that are increasingly sophisticated, especially remote attacks;
  • Integrate easily with CPS components that guarantee their functional safety by providing CPS integrators with certification kit(s) for this OS.

CyberSafeOS will allow CPS designers to achieve, at lower costs and without technical risks, ambitious security objectives adapted to the challenges of CPS while respecting the constraints related to functional safety.
